Drought alert, lawn maintenance? How to maintain your garden despite the water restrictions linked to episodes of drought?

Drought alert

A drought alert is a water shortage signal issued by a department for one or more of its Watershed.

There are 4 alert levels in France. Each introduces increasingly strict mechanisms for controlling the use of water, and for each of the categories of users: individuals, agriculture, as well as industry.

The 4 levels are:

Vigilance: no restrictions, but awareness of a situation that is becoming abnormal,
Alert: first threshold for reducing consumption. For example, lawn watering allowed between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Reinforced Alert: each Department sets its rule; in general, watering vegetable gardens becomes prohibited during the day.
Crisis: in general, all non-priority withdrawals for food and health security are prohibited.

In 2019, according to our own calculations during the period from May 14 to October 14, there were up to 70 departments of the metropolis in drought alert situation, therefore with water use restrictions. 20 were at Ultimate Level: Crisis.

A test on the animals of the aquarium of Canet en Roussillon (France) showed that it was safe for fish.

Our mineral products are based on aerosol chalk. They are reserved for outdoor use, and have customary precautions related to their packaging in aerosols (pressurized container, protective equipment).

The product is acrylic based, lead free, cadmium free, and the aerosol is CFC free.

Water in France

- Water on Earth

70% of the earth's surface is made up of water. 97% of this resource essential to life, consists of salt water. Only 3% of the global resource is in the form of fresh water.

Color & History

According to the site pourlascience.fr, the first trace of color used by humans appears in South Africa, 73,000 years ago. Closer to home, in Europe, the first drawings date back 30,000 years. They already featured the use of stencils, as seen in the Chauvet cave below. Essentially two colors were used: red and black, coming from iron oxide and coal respectively.

EdenColor uses the same principles: natural products and stencils, more than 30,000 years later. Moreover, 30,000 years later, we carried out a project above this same cave.
