Grass paint - Pink October

Painting the Pink October Logo on Lawns: A Commitment and Awareness Project

Every year, the month of October is synonymous with commitment, solidarity and awareness in the fight against breast cancer worldwide. The "Pink October" campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of early detection, raise funds for research and support those affected by breast cancer. Here's a look back at last year's project: Grass painting for Pink October.

A Symbol of Hope and Solidarity

The idea of painting the Pink October logo on grass came from the desire to create a visible symbol of support and hope for all those affected by breast cancer. The idea was to take the logo from the sky.

The project begins with the creation of the Pink October logo, a symbolic pink ribbon that has become the international symbol of the fight against breast cancer. This ribbon is carefully reproduced on a lawn, using our Vegetal Colors product specially designed for use on grass. This paint is temporary, environmentally friendly and safe for plants and people.

The practical realization of grass painting

Particular attention was paid to location, choosing a strategic spot where the logo would be clearly visible.

We use precision stencils to create the Pink October logo with great accuracy. The paint used is biodegradable and will respect the local environment. The process has been documented to share this inspiring initiative with the public.

A large-scale awareness campaign for Pink October

The main aim of this project is to raise awareness of the fight against breast cancer. The Pink October logo on the lawn attracts attention and encourages people to think about the importance of prevention and early detection.

Join us in this Inspiring Initiative

We invite you to join us in this inspiring initiative. You can help by spreading the word about this project in your community, and by taking part in awareness-raising events. Every gesture counts in the fight against breast cancer.

By painting the Pink October logo on the lawn, we create a symbol of hope, solidarity and awareness visible to all. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against breast cancer and provide support to all those affected by the disease. Pink October is the month of action, and this project embodies that spirit of commitment.

For 3 years now, we've partnered with the Ligue Contre le Cancer Haute Garonne to offer a 15% donation on purchases during the month of October.

The crucial issue of water tables this summer

The crucial issue of groundwater is one that must be taken into account for a more certain future.

These water tables play a crucial role in the supply of drinking water.

However, these underground freshwater reserves are currently facing major challenges, not least due to recurrent droughts throughout France.

Now that summer has arrived, the issue of groundwater is becoming vital to guarantee the availability of a resource that is essential to our daily lives.

At present, many water tables in France are at very low levels.

In addition, prolonged dry spells and climate change are contributing to this worrying situation.

Find out more about Drought in France.

Most French regions have below-normal soils for this time of year.

It is possible to observe a reduction in the quantity of water available for different uses, leading to water restrictions and shortages.

Lower groundwater levels can lead to lower river flows, poorer water quality and a threat to the biodiversity that depends on it.

Fragile ecosystems, such as wetlands, are particularly vulnerable to falling water tables.

Faced with the challenges facing groundwater, conservation measures are essential. We need to reduce excessive withdrawals and encourage more sustainable practices.

green algae to color the lawn

ALGAE: from miracles to benefits

The story begins more than 10 years ago, in California, when we worked on how to recover algae residues from a local industry. The algae had a strong coloring, close to that of the lawn, and a strong smell of iodine. The manufacturers did not know what to do with it.

We had the idea to make it a beneficial product for the lawn.

The lawn is an ornamental plant, which consumes 4 to 8 L of water per day and per m². In normal season, this quantity of water is brought mainly by rain. But in the dry season, rainwater is scarce, and in California water is scarce.

We created the first eco-responsible lawn paint based on algae. Its function is to make a beautiful lawn in all circumstances (drought, disease, etc.), while saving water in the event of a lack of water (70-80% less watering for a green lawn).

The product has established itself very well, with individuals and professionals. A few years later, we opened up Europe to the subject.

For 10 years, we have constantly worked to stabilize this “living” product: food grade dyes, acrylic polymers from sunscreens, food grade gum stabilizers, etc.

There are no dangerous compounds in our products, their safety data sheet is blank, and we only use ingredients from the cosmetic and food industries.

The independent laboratory LaboSport has tested our products on the most “demanding” lawns on the market, and even talks about “chlorophyll pigments which act as a bio stimulant”.

Pour faire un produit réellement éco-responsable, nous avons aussi travaillé l’ensemble de la chaîne de production et de livraison :

    • Firstly, the packaging, in the form of a concentrate, so as not to transport water,

    • As well as the packaging, which can be recycled,

    • But also transport, the carbon cost of which is offset,

    • As well as the sale, the carbon cost of which is also offset (at 200%).

Thus per liter, our product is 2 to 3 times more effective than the alternatives, which in addition sometimes contain chemical compounds.

It is a professional product, used by sports leagues, amusement parks, etc.

You too can discover the power of algae, to give a beautiful color to your plants without digging unnecessarily in the planet's water reserves.

Installation of ISCT + Mars Bleu logos

Thus, it is three logos that we have placed, one in front of the main entrance and two others inside the premises. We made these logos thanks to Mineral Color (chalk-based spray) and our stencils. Our stencils are made in akilux and therefore 100 recyclable %. They were also custom made for demand.

After cleaning the surface and removing the pre-cut places, we set up the stencil. We advise to maintain them with scotch tape. We then applied Mineral Color uniformly and evenly over the entire pattern. Last step, we let it dry to obtain the expected result. For your creations, let the product dry for about an hour. Finally, we were able to remove the stencils and put them away. During these installations, you keep the stencils and can reuse them as many times as you want, they are yours.

Lawn painting for green grass? Funny idea

The idea is simple: to have a green grass thanks to lawn paint.

First of all you should know that the lawn painting is booming in the United States, especially in California, a state that has adopted strong policies in compliance with theenvironment (reduction of water consumption, carbon emissions, and less use of chemicals).

Although the practice is still little known in Europe, paint your lawn has several advantages.

Painting your lawn, a recognized utility

Vegetal Color has benefits on plants. Its application stimulates the photosynthetic activity of plants and also improves the aesthetic appearance in a lasting way. It is the fastest solution to have a green garden, without masking the "signals" sent by the plant, nor invalidating the appropriate treatments to take care of it.

The plants suffer from numerous attacks such as: diseases, insects, domestic animals, salt, and in particular drought. This results in discoloration, sometimes lasting or definitive.

During periods of drought for example, Vegetal Color stands out for its ability to make water savings. A lawn can require up to 8 L of water per m² and per day, ie for a lawn of 500 m² much more than the water consumed by the inhabitants. With Vegetal Color, 1 L of product mixed with 8 L of water, covers up to 200 m² of grass. A economy considerable, and very practical when watering is prohibited. It makes her a real anti-drought weapon.

This process is used by many players in the professional world for lawns. Among them, we find: golf clubs, municipalities, gardeners as well as landscapers etc.

Green grass in minutes, and without danger ?

A question that annoys? Not at all ! Vegetal Color is free from products classified as dangerous, unlike many garden products. Its composition?

  • Water (70%),
  • algae-based pigments (20%),
  • acrylic polymers (10%).

No hazardous product.

The internationally renowned independent laboratory LaboSport has also tested the product. He concludes that Vegetal Color is a aesthetic benefit, as for theplant activity.

Lawn painting, a creative hobby?

Vegetal Color exists in several colors, to bring other colors to the garden. Birthdays, weddings, but also all kinds of private events, let your imagination run wild. Combined with stencils, they make it possible to create any graphic creation (portrait, text, image, logo, etc.). As you will have understood, lawn painting will help you to have a green lawn, but not only!

Drought in France

In France, the drought system cuts across two different administrative structures:

  • The water management structure, which follows the geographical limits of the watersheds, a homogeneous unit from the point of view of water,
  • The alert structure, which follows the administrative boundaries of the state organization: the Departments.

When a water shortage is felt in a watershed, each concerned Department issues a decree to restrict water uses. This decree is issued by the Prefecture, and sent to all the mayors concerned.

Grass carbon footprint

Grass has much more than decorative virtues. Occupying 90-95% of green areas in private gardens and public green spaces, its contribution is multiple:

  • It filters dust particles in the air,
  • Thanks to photocatalysis, it captures polluting gases (CO2, NO2)
  • It filters rainwater by capturing heavy components,
  • It absorbs noise in the city,
  • It reduces temperatures.

According to a British study (*), grass captures twice as much carbon as a deciduous forest (oak, poplar, mulberry), for the same floor area.

Thus, for an area of 1,000 m2, the lawn:

  • Produces the amount of oxygen needed for 16 people,
  • Captures the CO2 production of 3 cars.

Water and Grass

Lawn is a grass, a family of plants which also include grasses and cereals. Grass is often a mixture of several species, the main ones being:

Automatically generated image containing grass, outdoor, plant, field Description
  • Ryegrass,
  • Kentucky bluegrass,
  • Red fescue;
  • Agrostid,
  • The meadowsweet,
  • Tall fescue.

There are over 200 varieties, depending on the Group for the Study and Control of Varieties and Seeds (GEVES).

Its water needs

We are not talking about the water requirements of the lawn in general. It depends on the moisture conditions of the soil and the air. These are measured in meteorology by a parameter called evapotranspiration (or EVP).

An image containing grass, outdoor, field, green Description automatically generated

The community estimates that a lawn needs 4 to 6 liters of water per day per m2, up to 8 liters in the dry period. At the average price per m3 of water, this would come to 0.7 € / m2 / month. This is what everyone should spend to have a beautiful lawn. To this are added maintenance products and mowing.
